Still thinking.

I have asked a number of people for suggestions about problems that may be resolved through the use of some type of e-based training or an EPSS. I really hadn't gotten too many responses until this morning when an assistant manager told me that a real problem that she has is one that may be solved through the use of a website, or one aspect of a website, that I developed in my Internship class this past summer. Would that be acceptable for this class?

Well, how about that!

I did a search on Google, and what do you know, I found the show that I was talking about without any problems at all! It is called, The Motivation Show, and it is at the McCormack Place, September 23-25th. Don't know much about it, but I hope to be able to get the time off of work to at least attend some of the 50 or so seminars.

Some morning thoughts...

I work for a company whose parent corporation has some 25,000 employees. That is a lot of grey matter! As part of that, the company that I work for has maybe 4,000 employees. That is still a lot, but I have to make this big enough to make any investment worth it. Of course this blog is free, so maybe I could pilot it on my department. Going beyond our semi-small group, I suppose that it would involve some type of security. In fact, now that I think of it, if we did trial it in my department, we would have to have IT loosen some of the restrictions that we have. I wasn't able to access this site from work. It seems to me like a good idea for me to be the moderator, and to allow some anonymous posts. I am very trustworthy, and would also be able to filter some posts that may not be appropriate. Don't know, I guess I'll have to think about it. Another thing that I have been mulling about is motivation. If the people are motivated to contribute, they will take it more seriously. I heard something on the radio yesterday about some type of three day motivational seminar this month, somewhere here in Chicago. I don't remember where it is, but I know that they have a website. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?

E-learning

I am looking forward to providing some substance to this post. I admit going in to this project that I am biased towards finding support for it. Lee Iacocca is quoted at http://www.dailycelebrations.com/communication.htm as saying, "You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can't get them across, your ideas won't get you anywhere." A Blog provides people with the forum to get those great ideas across, to make suggestions, and to offer constructive criticism in order to bring about positive results.
